The Duke Is Mine - Eloisa James I liked James' version of 'The Princess & the Pea,' though the last quarter of the book lowered the book's overall appeal. The Scarlet Pimpernel plot twist was a bit tedious, and I wanted James to bring us back to the characters and estate that made the first part of the book so successful.

Olivia was one of my favorite of James' heroines, and Quin was a charmer too. The secondary characters were great - Georgie and the dowager duchess were particular favorites - and the witty wordplay among the ensemble was lovely (and bawdy!). Ultimately, though, this wasn't James' most memorable books.
